UK Family Fundraiser For Advanced Glioblastoma Treatment: 2025 Mid-Year Update

Pratapaviciene released the mid-year update to the four-month campaign, redoubling her appeal for donations to fund her partner’s glioblastoma treatment. The GoFundMe campaign seeks to raise £100,000 to pay for private treatment outside the chemotherapy and radiation regimen recommended by the NHS.

The campaign titled ‘You’re My Only Hope’ was launched after Asta’s partner, Raimondas, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. The NHS offers surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy to treat glioblastoma, but access to the latest clinical trials and advanced treatments remains limited. The family is seeking to fund a personalised treatment plan that the NHS may not cover.

Glioblastoma is known for its rapid progression and resistance to conventional treatments. Newer therapies—such as immunotherapy, targeted molecular treatments, and tumour-treating fields—are showing promise but are only accessible privately due to their cost and experimental status. According to recent studies, only about 29% of glioblastoma patients in England receive aggressive multi-modality treatment, while 21% receive no treatment at all. The median survival time for patients remains just 12 to 15 months.

The ‘You’re My Only Hope’ campaign has received support from over 160 donors, raising just under 7% of the £100,000 target. Pratapaviciene expressed her gratitude for the support so far and emphasised the urgent need for further donations to give Raimondas the best possible chance. Donations have ranged from £1,000 to £5, with the median donation being around £10.

“We’re asking for your kindness and support to help us afford this treatment. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us closer to giving Raimondas a fighting chance,” said Pratapaviciene. “We met eight years ago, both emerging from difficult divorces, and finally found happiness and peace in each other. We were planning our future together when everything changed overnight with this heartbreaking diagnosis. Raimondas is full of life, dreams, and love – and he’s not ready to give up. Neither am I.”
